With the Olivia Octopus knitting kit from Hardicraft (art. no. HC-41CK009), you knit an octopus soft toy. Finished, Olivia measures approx. 40 cm across. The design is by Christel Krukkert. According to Hardicraft, with her many tentacles Olivia is not only cute to look at but also soft to the touch.

Part of the Hardicraft sea creatures

Olivia belongs to a range of knitted sea creatures from Hardicraft. These also include Karel the Crab, Sterre the Starfish, Willy the Whale, Bart the Pufferfish and Ties the Turtle. Size, yarn and needle size differ from animal to animal, so check the individual kit.

What's in the kit

You get two marl yarns in white and purple, safety eyes and stuffing – everything you need for the whole octopus. The printed pattern is included in Dutch, English, German, French and Spanish. A QR code takes you to further languages and explanations. You will need to provide the 2.5 mm knitting needles yourself.

Knitting Olivia

Knit the pieces in the order given in the pattern. For soft toys in general, it is best to knit fairly tightly so that the stuffing does not show through the fabric later. Insert the safety eyes before you stuff and close the toy: push the post through the knitted fabric from the outside and press the backing washer firmly on from the inside. Then stuff in small amounts, so the shape is even and there are no lumps.
