The Clover Templates set 494/S contains 7 polypropylene window templates for patchwork with squares and octagons. The openings show both the sewing line and the cutting line. This lets you mark fabric pieces of the same shape and size and sew them together accurately later.

The set is a basic set for getting started with patchwork. Through the window you can see which part of the fabric will show in the finished piece. On patterned fabrics, this helps you place a motif exactly in the centre.

Working with the window templates

Place the template on the right side of the fabric and check through the opening which section will be visible later. Then trace the sewing line and cutting line with a marker and cut along the cutting line. Where possible, place the template along the grain so the pieces do not distort later. For many identical pieces, place the templates next to each other to waste little fabric.
