The Clover flexible fabric ruler (Graph Ruler, art. no. 7702) is a 30 cm ruler for measuring and marking when planning sewing and knitting projects. The parallel lines at several spacings let you mark seam lines and parallels accurately. The flexible material follows curved areas, so you can measure curves too.

The markings are printed on transparent plastic. According to Clover, the scale is easy to read even on dark fabrics.

Using the ruler

Place one of the lines along the fabric edge or along a seam line you have already drawn, and read off the distance you need from the parallel lines. Mark the points and join them. This gives you even seam allowances, hem lines or parallels to cut edges. The 45° line shows you the bias grain, for example for bias strips or diagonals in patchwork. On curves, press the ruler gently against the curve and measure directly along the edge.

Choosing the length

At 30 cm, the ruler is handy for smaller pattern pieces, details and measuring at your work table. For larger areas, Clover also makes the same ruler in a 50 cm length.
