Prym Omnigrip patchwork ruler 6 x 24 inch – non-slip with inch scale

The Prym Omnigrip anti-slip ruler (art. no. 610212) from the Omnigrid range is a patchwork ruler measuring 6 × 24 inch, for cutting fabric accurately when sewing and quilting. According to Prym, the green markings on the underside stop it slipping on the fabric. This lets you guide a rotary cutter or a hand cutter along the ruler more securely.

The scratch-resistant laser printing is on the underside and rules out optical distortion. The scale is divided into eighths of an inch, and there are angle lines at 30, 45 and 60 degrees. The plastic is transparent, so you can see the fabric and pattern underneath.

Cutting with the ruler

Place the ruler on the fabric so that the inch marking you want lies exactly on the cutting line. Hold it down with your flat hand and run the rotary cutter along the edge with even pressure. Keep your fingers behind the edge of the ruler so that they stay clear of the blade. At 24 inches long, the ruler lets you cut long strips in one pass.

Using the angle lines

The 30, 45 and 60 degree lines let you cut bias edges, triangles and diamonds for patchwork blocks. The fine division into eighths of an inch helps with seam allowances and strip widths when your pattern is given in inches.
