Prym Elastic Cord, white, Ø 2.5 mm – 50 m round elastic for casings and craft projects

Prym Elastic Cord (art. no. 971200) is a round, highly elastic cord in white, 2.5 mm in diameter. It comes in a large pack with 50 m on the reel. It is suitable for threading through casings in clothing and for craft projects, and can be washed at 40 °C.

According to Prym, the cord is made of 60 % elastodiene and 40 % polyester and has a braided cover. The large reel is worthwhile if you regularly thread elastic or sew several projects in a row.

Threading the cord through a casing

Clip a safety pin to one end of the cord and push it through the casing. Secure the other end to the fabric with a pin or a knot so that it does not disappear into the casing. Finally, knot the two ends together or sew them in place. When sewing, do not stretch the cord too much, otherwise the fabric will pucker later.

Which diameter should you choose?

At 2.5 mm, this cord is thicker than the Prym Elastic Cord in 1.5 mm (100 m, in white and black) from the same range. The thicker cord holds better in wider casings and is easier to grip and knot. Use the thinner one for narrow casings and fine work.
