Creative Fun Felting Wool PRINT from Rico Design is a 100 % wool felting yarn for knitted pieces that you felt afterwards. Each ball weighs 50 g and has a length of 50 m. Use the length to work out how many balls you need for your project from the yarn requirements in your pattern. Choose your colour from the options.

According to Rico Design, the open strand is intended for felting projects. Knit loosely with 8 mm needles and let the knitted fabric shrink afterwards. This makes bags, baskets or slippers with a dense, firm surface, for example.

Allowing for shrinkage when felting

Rico Design gives two tension figures: before felting 12 stitches and 18 rows, after felting 16 stitches and 23 rows over 10 × 10 cm. The knitted fabric therefore becomes noticeably smaller when felted, to about three quarters of its width. Knit your piece correspondingly larger than the finished size you want. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.
