Ricorumi DK Starter Set – 20 cotton yarns in 20 colours for amigurumi

The Rico Design Ricorumi DK Starter Set contains 20 balls of cotton yarn, 25 g each, in 20 different colours for crocheting amigurumi figures and animals. The yarn is 100% cotton in DK weight and, according to Rico Design, was developed specifically for amigurumi. Altogether you have 500 g and approx. 1,150 m of yarn.

With 20 colours in one set, you can combine colours for the body, details and clothing of your figure without having to hunt down individual balls.

Crocheting with Ricorumi DK

At 57.5 m per 25 g ball, one ball goes a long way for smaller areas of colour such as ears, snouts, scarves or accessories for your figure. The small balls are handy when an animal is to be made in many colours. The manufacturer recommends a hook size of 3–4 mm. For amigurumi you usually crochet particularly tightly so that the stuffing does not show through the stitches. To do this, stay towards the lower end of the range or use a slightly smaller hook. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. As a rough guide: 22 stitches and 26 rows make 10 × 10 cm.

20-ball or 60-ball set?

Both sets contain balls of 25 g and 57.5 m each. The difference lies in the quantity: the 20-ball set with 20 colours suits beginners and individual figures. If you are planning many projects with a wide choice of colours, the 60-ball set offers 60 colours.
