My First Victorinox – kids' pocket knife with 9 functions

The My First Victorinox is a small pocket knife for children with nine functions. It is designed for first experience with a blade, saw and tools under adult supervision. According to Victorinox, the blade has a rounded tip to make the knife safer for children. The scales are made of ABS/Cellidor, and the knife is made in Switzerland. A chain and a strap are included. Choose your colour from the options.

At 84 mm long and 45 g, the knife is much more compact than an adult model. Small hands can grip the tools easily and fold them out.

What the nine functions are for

The large blade cuts string, paper, cardboard and craft materials. With the wood saw you can shorten thin branches or craft wood, and the screwdriver (5 mm) fits simple screws. The tweezers and toothpick help with fine work, and the wire stripper with thin wires for small craft projects. The bottle opener, the tin opener and the key ring complete the toolset. The knife is not intended for whittling larger pieces of wood; its functions are geared more towards crafting, tinkering and trying things out.

Practising safely

Before the first use, go through the rules together, ideally using the Victorinox safety rules for children (PDF from the manufacturer). As the blade does not lock, it can fold shut while cutting: fingers must never be in the closing path of the blade. Cut and saw on a stable surface and always away from your body. After use, fold all the tools away and wipe off shavings and dirt.
