Victorinox Farmer Alox – Swiss Army Knife with Wood Saw and 9 Functions
The Victorinox Farmer Alox (art. no. 0.8241.26) is a Swiss Army knife with 9 functions for the home, workshop, garden and leisure. The tools sit between two Alox handle scales. At 93 mm long, 22 mm wide and 14 mm high, the knife stays flat and easy to handle.
Besides the large blade, you have a wood saw, tin opener, bottle opener, screwdriver, wire stripper and reamer/punch to hand. That lets you deal with many small jobs without having to look for the right tool each time.
Tools on the Farmer
The 9 functions are divided between these tools:
- Large blade
- Wood saw
- Tin opener with 3 mm screwdriver
- Bottle opener with screwdriver
- Wire stripper
- Reamer/punch
- Key ring
Which tool to use for what
The blade cuts string, packaging or fruit. With the wood saw you shorten small branches or battens; on thin material, saw with light pressure and steady, long strokes. The awl pierces holes in leather, card or soft wood before you screw or sew. The wire stripper removes the insulation from thin wires, the bottle opener opens bottles, and the screwdrivers loosen small screws.
Choosing guide
The Farmer is not a one-hand knife: you open the blade with both hands. As the blade cannot be locked, the knife suits everyday cutting jobs, not tasks that need a lot of force. The Alox scales are anodised aluminium. Over time they may show signs of wear.
