Silicone Mould Round Box with Lid – for Plaster, Concrete and Casting Compound AC730

This soft silicone mould makes a round box with a lid. You can cast it in plaster, concrete or the water-resistant casting compound AC730 and make small storage boxes to decorate or give as gifts. The mould measures approx. Ø 12 × 4.5 cm. Because the silicone is soft, it gives way when you demould, so the dried piece can be released without force.

Casting the box

Stand the mould on a level surface so that the box turns out even. Mix the casting compound according to the manufacturer's instructions and pour it slowly into the mould. Tap the mould lightly on the surface so that air bubbles rise to the top and the surface becomes smooth. Leave the compound to harden completely before carefully peeling the mould away from the piece. If you roll the silicone wall outwards bit by bit as you do so, even fine edges stay intact.

Which casting compound to choose

Plaster is inexpensive and easy to paint, but it absorbs moisture. Concrete is stronger and suits heavier boxes. If the box will come into contact with moisture, the water-resistant casting compound AC730 is the better choice. Once you have used a mould for plaster, concrete or casting compound, do not use it for food again.
