Pebaro Fretsaw Frame 790 – quick-release system for even blade tension

The Pebaro automatic fretsaw frame 790 is a hand saw frame for fretwork, such as figures, motifs and cut-outs in thin wood or plywood. The patented quick-release tensioning system tightens the saw blade with little effort and keeps the blade tension constant. This matters because a loose blade wanders or breaks, and fine contours become inaccurate.

The frame is made of nickel-plated steel tube with a diameter of 13 mm. The tensioning levers can be fitted on either side, so the frame suits right- and left-handers. Pebaro makes it in Germany, and it carries the "spiel gut" award. It is suitable for woodwork lessons at school as well as for hobby projects.

How to saw cleanly

Clamp the workpiece firmly or place it on a sawing table so that it does not shift while you saw. Fit the saw blade with the teeth pointing towards the handle. Then saw with even, steady strokes. Do not press hard; let the blade do the work. On curves, turn the workpiece rather than the frame, so the blade does not jam. For inner cut-outs, first drill a hole, thread the blade through it and then tension it.

What the throat depth means for you

The throat depth of 320 mm determines how far in from the edge of the board you can saw before the frame gets in the way. For cut-outs in larger boards this gives more room; for work at the edge it makes no difference.
