Fitting the eyes
Fit the eyes before the figure is stuffed, as the back is hard to reach afterwards. First pin the eyes in place to test the position, and check the spacing and height from the front. Only when both eyes sit evenly do you fix them in place. On crocheted work, push the shaft between two stitches so that the fabric is not damaged.
Choosing the size
The size of the eyes determines the character of your figure: larger eyes look childlike and cute, smaller ones more subtle and natural. Go by the size of the head. On small amigurumi figures, eyes that are too large quickly look overdone.
