Rayher platinum crimp beads – for securing beads and clasps

You use Rayher crimp beads in platinum colour in jewellery making to secure beads on wire or thread and to attach clasps. Rayher describes them as bead stoppers. You can also use them to fasten a new wire or thread, to create small dividers or to add subtle highlights to your necklace or bracelet.

The inner diameter is 0.8 mm and the outer diameter is 1.5 mm, so the beads suit fine jewellery wire or thin thread. The bag contains 40 pieces, enough for several pieces of jewellery.

How to fit a crimp bead

Thread the crimp bead onto the wire, pass the wire through the loop of the clasp and back through the bead. Slide the bead up close to the clasp and squeeze it with pliers until it grips the wire firmly. The wire thickness matters: the wire and its returned end must pass through the 0.8 mm hole together. If it is too thick, the bead cannot be threaded on neatly. If it is too thin, the grip is weaker. Before you carry on working, check the join with a gentle tug.
