AMI Soft Brayer 100 mm – soft rubber roller for even ink application

The AMI Soft brayer, 100 mm, applies ink evenly, for example in printmaking and relief work. The surface is soft rubber and the construction is polypropylene and aluminium.

The roller is shaped so that you can rest it on its back between passes. The wet roller then does not touch the surface and leaves no ink marks on your table. The smooth surface is easy to clean, and you can quickly remove fresh ink residue.

Rolling out ink evenly

Put a little ink on a smooth surface and roll it out in several directions until the film looks even and slightly velvety. Then run the roller over your printing block or relief with light pressure. The soft rubber surface adapts to uneven areas. The most common mistake is too much ink: it runs into fine recesses and smudges the outlines. Two thin coats are better than one thick one.

Resting and cleaning

Between passes, rest the roller on its back so that the rubber surface stays clear. Clean it as soon as possible after printing, while the ink is still fresh. Thanks to the smooth surface, this is quick. Use the cleaning agent that suits your ink.
