Filling and starting the marker

Choose a paint or ink that is thin enough to flow through the valve. Water-based paints such as MTN Water Based are the safe choice, as Montana Colors specifically names them for this marker. Do not fill the marker to the brim, so that nothing overflows when you close it. Then press the tip gently down several times on a test surface until the paint flows. The transparent body shows you when it needs refilling.
