YKK Zip 35 cm – Closed-End, with Fine Polyester Coil

The YKK CFC-36 zip in 35 cm length is a closed-end coil zip for sewing projects, for example for side seams on skirts, dresses and trousers, and for bags, cushions and other home furnishings. The fine polyester coil is flexible and easy to work with, and the standard slider runs smoothly.

Closed-end means the zip is firmly closed at the bottom. You sew it in where the opening should only be opened and closed, but not separated completely. For jackets that need to open fully, you need an open-ended zip instead. Choose your colour from the options. The 35 cm length is available in this series alongside other lengths from 15 to 60 cm.

Inserting the zip

Pin or clip the zip to the seam allowance before you sew. The coil should sit centrally on the seam. Using a zip foot, sew close alongside the coil without catching it. Press the fabric and tape only with moderate heat, as plastic coils can be damaged by too much heat.

Choosing the length

Measure the opening in your sewing pattern and choose the length according to the figure given in the instructions. For dresses and skirts, allow enough length so that you can get in and out comfortably.
