YKK 40 cm Zip – Closed-End, with Fine Polyester Coil

The YKK CFC-36 zip, 40 cm long, is a closed-end coil zip for sewing into skirts, dresses, trousers, bags and cushions. The fine polyester coil runs smoothly and follows the fabric. This makes it easy to work with and keeps it flexible even in fluid fabrics. The standard slider is designed for everyday use.

Closed-end means the bottom end is firmly closed. You therefore sew it in where the opening is only unzipped from one side, for example in a side seam or on a cushion cover. Choose your colour from the options.

Sewing in the zip

Pin or clip the zip to the seam allowance and sew it in with a zip foot, which runs close to the coil. Plan the opening slightly shorter than the 40 cm, as there are end stops at both ends that do not count towards the usable length. When pressing near the plastic coil, use only a low temperature so that it does not become distorted.

Which length?

At 40 cm you get a longer opening, for example for dresses, skirts or cushion covers. The series includes other lengths for shorter or longer openings. Measure the opening of your pattern beforehand and choose the length accordingly.
