Prym S9 knitting zip in white – to sew on or knit onto

The Prym S9 knitting zip in white is an open-ended zip with plastic teeth, suitable for cardigans, jumpers with a zip and wool cushions. Its tape is partly loosely woven, so you can easily sew it on by hand or pick up stitches directly along it. The chain, slider and tape are all white, so the zip is barely noticeable in light-coloured knitting.

The zip is open-ended, so you can open it completely, for example on a jacket. It is available in lengths of 50, 60 and 70 cm. Choose the length from the options.

Inserting the knitting zip

The loose tape follows the stitch pattern and is easy to pierce with a needle. Measure the edge of your knitted piece before inserting the zip and choose the length to match the opening. Tack or pin the zip in place first: knitting stretches, the tape does not, and without preparation the edge will tend to ripple.

• Sewing on: Distribute the edge evenly along the tape and sew it on by hand with small stitches.
• Knitting on: Pick up stitches from the loose tape and carry on knitting in the yarn weight and needle size given in your pattern.
