Prym neutral pattern paper – tissue paper for tracing and enlarging sewing patterns

Prym pattern paper (art. no. 611278) is semi-transparent tissue paper for making and copying sewing patterns. It comes as a roll 1 m wide and 10 m long, which gives 10 m². The paper is supplied rolled and not folded, so there are no creases to smooth out before you begin.

This version is plain, without any printed pattern. As the paper is semi-transparent, you can see the lines of the original through it and trace them directly. That makes it easy to trace sewing patterns, draw your own pattern pieces or enlarge patterns.

Tracing a sewing pattern

Unroll a length and lay it over the pattern. Secure both layers with weights or pins so that the thin paper does not slip while you draw. Then trace the lines for your size and copy markings such as grainline, darts and notches at the same time. The original pattern sheet stays intact, so you can trace another size later. Tissue paper is thin, so draw with light pressure to avoid tearing it.

Plain or gridded?

Prym also offers pattern paper with a printed grid scale. That version helps when enlarging patterns and drafting motifs. Choose the plain roll without a printed grid when you want the lines of the original to show through undisturbed and do not need a grid.
