Prym Sewing Machine Needles Standard 130/705, Size 90 – Universal Needles for Medium-Weight Fabrics

Prym Standard 130/705 sewing machine needles in size 90 are universal needles for medium-weight fabrics such as cotton, linen or corduroy. The pack contains 5 needles with a flat shank. The slightly rounded point enters the fabric cleanly and is gentle on the fibres. The 130/705 system fits standard household sewing machines.

The needles are suitable for natural and synthetic fabrics. With five in the pack, you have spares to hand when a needle becomes blunt or breaks.

Which fabrics suit size 90?

Size 90 is in the middle of the range: it suits cotton fabrics, linen and corduroy. For very fine fabrics such as silk or batiste, a finer needle is the better choice; for thick fabrics such as heavy denim, use a heavier one. For jersey, leather or jeans there are dedicated needle types shaped for those materials.

Changing the needle

Switch the machine off and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the clamp screw, pull the old needle out downwards and insert the new needle with the flat shank oriented as shown in your machine's manual. Push it up as far as it will go and tighten the screw again. Change the needle as soon as it feels blunt, pulls threads or skips stitches.
