Prym Jersey Needles 130/705, Size 80 – for Jersey, Knits and Stretch Fabrics

Prym special jersey sewing machine needles 130/705 in size 80 are designed for stretch fabrics such as jersey, knitted fabrics and fabrics containing elastane. The needles have a medium ballpoint. According to Prym, the needle geometry and ballpoint push the fibres aside as you sew instead of piercing them. This is gentler on the fabric and the elastic fibres, and ladders are less likely.

The needles have a flat shank and fit all standard domestic sewing machines. One card contains 5 needles.

Which needle for which fabric?

Size 80 is a medium needle size. For very fine, thin knitted fabrics, the jersey needle is also available in size 70. For firm woven fabrics with no stretch, a standard needle is a better choice than a ballpoint.

Inserting the needle

Switch off the sewing machine and insert the needle with the flat side of the shank positioned as shown in your machine's instructions. Push it up as far as it will go and tighten the screw. Change the needle if it is bent or blunt, or if the machine skips stitches.
