The solid polystyrene heart from Rayher is a white blank made of polystyrene (EPS) for painting, covering and decorating. The pack contains 20 hearts, each 9 cm. That is enough for wedding table decorations, Valentine's Day gift tags or group projects that need many identical hearts.

The surface is smooth and the material very light. Rayher lists sequins, texture pastes, snow pastes and decoupage among the possible uses. Gemstones, fabric and felting wool can also be applied to the heart.

Decorating the hearts

For painting, use acrylic or other water-based paints. Solvent-based spray paints attack polystyrene and make it melt. The same applies to glue: use solvent-free craft glue when attaching sequins, gemstones or fabric. Test the paint or glue first on the back of one heart.

• Painting: with acrylic paint, in two thin coats if needed
• Covering: with fabric, napkins, sequins or gemstones
• Needle felting: lay the felting wool on thinly and poke it into the heart with the felting needle
• Texture paste or snow paste: for raised surfaces
