Rayher Styropor Polystyrene Disc Ø 25 cm – a round base for crafts, modelling and decorating

The Rayher Styropor polystyrene disc, 25 cm in diameter and 4 cm thick, is a round, white base made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) for craft projects, model making, decorations and schoolwork. The material is light and keeps its shape. You can paint the disc, cover it, coat it or cut it to size.

At 25 cm in diameter, it offers enough surface for floral arrangements, displays or landscape models. A thickness of 4 cm is enough to hold pins, wire stakes or decorative pieces securely. If you need more depth, Rayher also offers these discs in a 7 cm thickness.

Working with the polystyrene disc

Solvents attack polystyrene and dissolve it. Use water-based acrylic paints and solvent-free glues, and test spray paints or spray adhesives on a corner first. A sharp thin-bladed knife is suitable for cutting to size; a polystyrene cutter gives particularly smooth edges. If you prime the surface with acrylic paint before painting, the paint coverage will be more even.
