Proxxon MICROFLAM MGS Gas Soldering Set – Gas Torch for Soldering, Hot Cutting and Pyrography

The Proxxon MICROFLAM MGS gas soldering set (art. no. 28144) is a gas torch set for soldering, hot cutting, pyrography and shrinking. You can work either with an open flame or via the catalyst with the matching attachments. The open flame lets you hard-solder delicate parts (flame temperatures up to 1,300 °C), while the attachment tips work at up to 500 °C.

The electronic piezo crystal igniter with safe gas supply and shut-off makes ignition easy. You adjust the gas and air supply continuously, so you can match the flame to the job. The gas tank holds 20 ml and, according to the manufacturer, lasts for long, continuous working. You refill it with ordinary butane gas cartridges for lighters.

The set comes with the attachments for the jobs mentioned. Each part has its place in the sturdy PP insert of the plastic case, so you can quickly find everything again.

Open flame or attachment – which suits which job?

For hard-soldering fine parts, use the open flame, as it reaches the highest temperature of up to 1,300 °C. For soft soldering, hot cutting, pyrography or shrinking, fit the matching attachment and tighten it with the spanner. Change attachments only when the tool has cooled down and make sure they sit firmly. According to the manufacturer, a stainless steel stand allows stationary working, for example when you need both hands for the workpiece. You adjust the gas supply continuously, so you can set the flame small and economical for fine work.

You will also need: butane gas cartridge for lighters to fill the gas tank

Use the open flame (up to 1,300 °C) and the hot attachments (up to 500 °C) only on a non-flammable surface and away from flammable materials. Butane gas is flammable: fill the tank only when the tool is switched off and cooled down, and away from ignition sources.
