Efco wooden ring mandrel – tapered ring sizer for shaping rings

The Efco wooden ring mandrel is a ring sizer for jewellery making. You shape rings from FIMO or Artclay on it and use it to take ring sizes. The mandrel is 375 mm long and tapers from ø 24 mm to ø 12 mm. This range of diameters covers small to large ring sizes on a single mandrel.

The wood is raw and untreated. 1 piece is supplied.

Working with the ring mandrel

The tapered shape helps you get the right ring size: the further towards the thick end you place the clay, the larger the ring will be. To work out the size, measure the circumference of your finger or of a ring that fits, and convert it into a diameter (circumference divided by 3.14). Mark the position on the mandrel with a pencil. Spread the modelling clay evenly around the mandrel at that point and carefully slide the ring off. Hardening depends on the instructions for your clay. Metal clay such as Artclay shrinks during firing, so shape the ring slightly larger than the size you want.
