This round wooden head is made of solid beech and is intended for homemade marionettes and dolls. It measures 50 × 60 mm, making it a compact head for small to medium-sized figures.

Beech is hard and fine-grained. This makes the head sturdy and gives you an even surface on which to create a face, hair or hat.

Finishing the head

If needed, sand the surface lightly and remove the dust before applying paint. It is best to paint the face and details with a thin brush in several thin layers. Hair made of wool, fur or fabric is glued on only once the paint has dried completely.
