The COLINEO angled brush from da Vinci's series 1827 is a brush with a slanted edge for oil and acrylic paints. You can use it to paint outlines, precise lines and angled edges. The synthetic fibres vary in length, are both straight and wavy, and have extra fine tips. They hold plenty of paint, are springy and form a precise point. The series is intended as a synthetic alternative to Kolinsky red sable hair.

The handle is long and hexagonal. It is made of water-resistant multicolour layered wood. This keeps your hand a little further from the canvas as you paint. The ferrule is silver-coloured. Choose your size from the options.

Working with the angled brush

Use the point of the angle for fine lines and details, and the longer side of the edge for broader strokes. If you turn the brush as you draw it, the line width changes without you having to lift off. This suits outlines, leaf veins, branches or the edges of objects. For transparent glazes and washes, thin the paint accordingly and apply it in thin layers. Wipe excess paint off on the edge of the palette beforehand so that the tip stays clean.

Brush care

Wash acrylic paint out straight away with water and a little soap, as dried paint sticks the fine fibres together. Remove oil paint with brush cleaner, then rinse with soap. Leave the brush to dry lying flat so that no water runs into the ferrule.
