da Vinci SPIN-SYNTHETICS XL Series 884, Size 40 – Watercolour Brush for Fine and Broad Strokes

The da Vinci SPIN-SYNTHETICS XL series 884 in size 40 is a watercolour brush with a pointed-oval onion tip for fluid painting on larger areas. The extra-fine, light brown synthetic fibres are supple. With one brush you can lay down thin lines as well as broad, dynamic strokes.

The 884 XL series is available in sizes 40 and 50. Size 40 has a silver ferrule.

Working with the onion tip

The pointed-oval shape holds plenty of water and colour and releases them evenly. Use the flat side to lay in large areas of colour and gradients, such as skies, backgrounds or glazes. Turn the brush on its side for narrow lines, and use the tip for fine details. Size 40 is intended for larger formats; for small details, use a narrower brush as well.

Care

After painting, rinse the brush in clean, lukewarm water and reshape the tip. Leave it to dry lying flat or hanging with the hairs pointing down, not standing in a pot, so that no water runs into the ferrule.
