The Hahnemühle Andalucia watercolour pad in 24 × 32 cm contains 12 sheets of natural white watercolour board at 500 g/m² for watercolour and other wet techniques. Hahnemühle describes the paper as acid-free and highly resistant to ageing, so your work will last a long time.

According to Hahnemühle, the front is rough and has the texture and flow characteristics of genuine handmade paper. The back is matt. You can paint on both sides, which gives you two different surfaces in a single pad.

Working on the pad

As the pad is glued on all sides, the sheet stays on the surface while you paint and dries flat. Let the finished painting dry completely before you remove it. To do so, carefully run a blunt knife or spatula along the glued edge. At 500 g/m², the paper takes considerably more water than thinner watercolour paper, which helps with wet-on-wet, gradients and transparent washes.

Rough or matt side?

The rough front gives the typical watercolour texture and a lively flow of colour. The matt back suits you if you prefer a smoother surface. Briefly test both sides with your paints before you start on the actual painting. The pad is also available in 30 × 40 cm.
