Marabu magnetic primer grey 815 – make walls and wood magnetic

Marabu magnetic primer in grey 815 is an acrylic primer that turns surfaces into magnetic ones. You can apply it to walls, paper, wood, MDF, metal or stretched canvases. Once dry, you can paint over it with Marabu paints. According to Marabu, it is waterproof and lightfast, so the surface keeps its colour even in bright spots.

According to Marabu, the 225 ml tin covers approx. 0.75 m² with four coats on slightly absorbent surfaces. That is enough to plan a pinboard, a picture frame insert or a surface in a child's room. For larger wall areas you will need several tins.

How to use

The primer is applied undiluted. Stir it well before use and apply it in several coats. The magnetic effect only builds up through the layers: with a single thin coat, magnets will not hold reliably.

• Prepare the surface so it is clean and dry
• Stir the primer well
• Apply 3–4 coats, according to Marabu preferably in a crosswise pattern
• Let each coat dry before applying the next
• Once dry, paint over with Marabu paints

Tips for a good result

The more coats you apply, the stronger the magnets will hold. Use strong magnets and do not apply the top colour too thickly, so that the holding force does not decrease. Plan your surface using the coverage of 0.75 m² per tin with four coats, and buy an extra tin if your surface is very absorbent, such as untreated wood or rough plaster. On absorbent surfaces the primer is used up faster than the manufacturer's figure for slightly absorbent surfaces suggests.
