Marabu magnetic primer grey 815 – turn walls and surfaces magnetic
Marabu magnetic primer in grey 815 (art. no. 12740043815) is an acrylic primer that turns surfaces into magnetic ones. It is suitable for walls, paper, wood, MDF, metal and stretched canvas, and is applied undiluted. Once dry, you can paint over it with Marabu paints. According to Marabu, it is waterproof and lightfast, so the surface keeps its colour even in bright spots. The tin contains 475 ml.
You can use it, for example, to make a magnetic wall in a child's room, a noticeboard in the hallway or a magnetic picture on a stretched canvas, and then decorate it with colour.
Applying the primer
Stir the primer well before use and apply it undiluted. The magnetic strength comes from the layers: Marabu recommends at least 3–4 coats, applied crosswise, i.e. each coat at right angles to the previous one. Let each coat dry before applying the next. If too little primer is applied, magnets will not hold. Also use strong magnets, as weak magnets only hold moderately even on a well-primed surface.
How much area will it cover?
For the 225 ml tin, Marabu gives approx. 0.75 m² with four coats on low-absorbency surfaces. Scaled up to 475 ml, that is roughly 1.6 m². Absorbent surfaces such as rough wood or wall plaster use more, so allow for more there.
Decorating once dry
You can paint over the dry surface with Marabu paints to create motifs, colours or patterns. As the primer is grey, the colour of your surface will change. Allow for this with light-coloured designs.
