The Efco straw star template set for 8-point stars (art. no. 1033302) helps you make straw stars with eight points: the template holds the straws in the right position while you lay out the star. You do not have to hold the straws down with your fingers, and the star turns out more even.

The set is a tool for making straw stars. Straws and thread are needed in addition.

Making straw stars

Dry straws are brittle and break easily. Soak them briefly in water before you start, until they are pliable. Then slit the straws open, for example with a straw splitter, and smooth them flat, for instance by careful ironing. Then lay the flat strips in the template, tie them together in the middle with thread and take the star out.

The set is designed for stars with eight points. For other star shapes, such as those with more points, you need a different template.
