Faber-Castell Polychromos Artists' Coloured Pencils, 60 in Metal Tin

Polychromos artists' coloured pencils in a 60-pencil metal tin for drawing and colouring

The 60-pencil metal tin from Faber-Castell contains Polychromos artists' coloured pencils for drawings, free artistic work and precise colouring of plans. Faber-Castell names professionals and semi-professionals as users. The pencils have a 3.8 mm thick lead with a soft, richly pigmented laydown. According to the manufacturer, the pigments have high lightfastness and colour brilliance, so your work keeps its strong colour for a long time, even in the light.

The strokes are smudge- and water-resistant. You can build up areas in layers without the lower layers smearing, and the lines do not run when wet. Thanks to the Secural bonding (SV), the lead is firmly glued into the wood. This makes the pencils more resistant to breakage, for example when sharpening or if a pencil is dropped. The metal tin keeps all 60 pencils together and protects them in transit.

Working with Polychromos pencils

The soft lead releases colour even with light pressure. Start with little pressure and build up colour in several thin layers, which makes transitions and shading easy to control. Sharpen the pencils carefully with a sharp sharpener so the lead does not break off and the point stays long for fine lines. Because the strokes are smudge- and water-resistant, you do not need to worry about smudging on plans and designs.

Choosing the set size

The series is available with 12, 24, 36, 60 and 120 pencils. The 60-pencil set offers a wide choice for blending and fine gradations without needing the largest set. If you are just getting to know the pencils, a smaller set is enough. If you need a great many shades, choose the 120 set.
