Kryolan Fresh Scratch dark – fake blood for scabbed wounds

Kryolan Fresh Scratch in dark is a solvent-free fake blood for film, stage and Halloween. You can use it to create scabbed wounds, scratches and scars. The range comes in several shades, for example light red for fresh injuries and dark red for scabbed wounds. This shade is the dark version for dried, older blood.

The product is opaque, colourfast and smudge-proof, and can be applied in layers. This lets you build up a wound gradually without the colour running. It is fragrance-free, dries quickly and can be removed completely with soap and water. Kryolan makes it in Germany.

Applying Fresh Scratch

It is best to apply the fake blood with a stipple sponge or a spatula. With the sponge you dab on a grainy, crusty texture; with the spatula you create defined edges and thicker areas.

• Clean the skin beforehand and make sure it is free of grease
• Pick up a little product and work in thin layers
• Let each layer dry briefly before applying the next
• For more depth, apply it darker at the edges and thinner in the centre

Which shade to choose

The dark shade suits scabs and older injuries. For fresh, still wet wounds, choose the light shade in the range. You can combine the two: light red in the centre of the wound and dark edges look like a wound progressing from fresh to crusted. A third shade in the range, an “old oil effect”, is also available, which you can use to create dirt or oil-smeared skin.
