Marabu Porcelain & Glass Painter Set – 5 markers for porcelain and glass

The Marabu Porcelain & Glass Painter set contains 5 markers with a line width of 1–2 mm in Sonnengelb 220, Kirsch 125, Nachtblau 293, Minze 153 and Schwarz 073. You can draw fine lines, patterns and lettering on porcelain and glass. The paint is high-gloss, water-based, odourless and lightfast.

The pens have a pump system with highly pigmented ink. After baking, the tableware is dishwasher safe up to max. 50 °C, according to Marabu.

Painting porcelain and glass

Clean the surface thoroughly; it must be free of dust and grease, otherwise the paint will not adhere well. Shake the pen before use and pump it on a sheet of paper until the paint reaches the tip. Do not touch freshly painted areas with your fingers, as this reduces adhesion. According to Marabu, the paint does not adhere well to Arcopal®, so it is best not to try it there.

Drying and baking

Leave the design to dry for 4 hours first. Then place the piece in a cold oven, heat to 160 °C and bake for 30 minutes. Afterwards, leave it to cool in the oven, which avoids stresses caused by an abrupt change in temperature. Only after baking is the design dishwasher safe up to max. 50 °C. Without baking, the paint takes approx. 3 days to dry, according to Marabu, and is not dishwasher safe.

Practical tips and storage

Store the pens lying flat so that the ink stays evenly at the tip. With a line width of 1–2 mm, the set suits lines, dots, ornaments and lettering on cups, plates, vases or glasses. On cups and glasses, leave the rim you touch with your mouth unpainted.
