The Schmincke metal tin is filled with 12 half pans of HORADAM watercolour paint and includes a travel brush. It gives you a ready-assembled watercolour starter set for painting on the go, in your sketchbook and in the studio. HORADAM is Schmincke's artists' quality range and is distinct from the AKADEMIE quality. The paints are made in Germany.

The colours are chosen so that you can mix many shades from them: a warm and a cool yellow, two reds, two blues, two greens, three earth tones and a black.

Getting started

Once dry, the paint in the pans is easy to re-wet. Before painting, drip a few drops of water onto the paint and wait briefly until it softens. Then pick up paint with the brush and mix it on a palette. Paper that absorbs water without cockling too much, such as watercolour paper, is suitable for watercolours. After painting, leave the pans open to dry before you close the tin, so that the colours do not stick together. If you would like to expand the tin later, the HORADAM range offers further sets, such as the Galaxy set with granulating colours.
