UHU KONTAKT liquid contact adhesive – for many materials

UHU KONTAKT liquid contact adhesive is a solvent-based contact adhesive. It bonds wood and wood-based materials, many plastics, metal, glass, porcelain, ceramic, leather, rubber, felt, cork and fabric. It spreads easily, grabs quickly, and you can carry on working with the bonded parts straight away.

The bond stays permanently flexible and compensates for tension between the materials. The adhesive is not suitable for polystyrene (Styropor), soft PVC, PE and PP.

How contact bonding works

• The surfaces to be bonded must be clean, dry and free of grease, and must fit together well.
• Apply the adhesive thinly and evenly to both surfaces. Absorbent materials such as wood or cork may need a second coat, which must also be left to dry.
• Leave the adhesive to flash off until it feels dry to the touch. The exact time is given on the tube.
• Then join the parts together precisely and press them firmly for a moment, for example with a roller or rubber mallet.

Important: as soon as the two surfaces touch, they bond immediately. Moving or correcting them afterwards is not possible. So dry-fit the parts beforehand or mark the position. Use the adhesive in a well-ventilated room.

Wipe off adhesive residue while it is still fresh – dried residue can only be removed mechanically. Close the tube tightly after use so the adhesive does not dry out.

Typical uses are repairs to shoes and bags, leather and rubber parts, cork, and jobs where you want to carry on working straight away.
