UHU LOW MELT – glue sticks for low-temperature glue guns
The UHU LOW MELT glue sticks are applied at just 110 °C. This means you can also bond heat-sensitive materials such as polystyrene and soft PVC, which would melt with standard hot glue. They also bond to metal, wood, glass, ceramic, leather, textiles and many plastics. The bonds are transparent and flexible, and the glue is solvent-free.
The sticks are oval, so they cannot be loaded into a high-temperature glue gun by mistake. According to UHU, they are not suitable for PE, PP and PTFE, for large surfaces or for bonds under load – that is, not for load-bearing parts or joints under constant pressure.
Gluing with LOW MELT
- The surfaces to be bonded must be clean, dry and free of dust and grease.
- Let the glue gun heat up fully before you squeeze out the first glue.
- Apply the glue quickly and generously, in thick lines or as dots. UHU recommends applying it to the harder of the two materials.
- Join the parts straight away and hold them briefly until the glue has cooled.
- Do not use the sticks below +5 °C.
Common mistakes
If you wait too long before joining the parts, the surface of the glue cools and bonds less well. With a very thin application, the amount of glue is often not enough for a firm bond. Fine strings of glue can simply be pulled off once cooled.
Typical uses include decorations with polystyrene balls and figures, model making, craft projects and small repairs. For heavily loaded joints or plastics such as PE and PP, use a different glue.
