Royal Talens Sketch Book, landscape 21 x 14.8 cm, 80 sheets

Royal Talens Sketch Book – A5 landscape sketchbook with elastic closure

The Royal Talens Sketch Book is a landscape sketchbook measuring 21 × 14.8 cm (A5) for drawings, studies and ideas on the go. It has 80 natural white sheets of 140 gsm in a hardback cover held shut by an elastic band. Its handy size fits into most bags, and the firm cover gives you a stable drawing surface even without a board underneath.

The paper is acid-free, so it yellows less quickly. That is useful if you want to keep sketches for a long time or use them later as references for larger works. Choose the cover colour from the options.

Which media suit the paper?

At 140 gsm, the paper is well suited to dry media such as pencil, coloured pencils, pastel and charcoal. You can also use fineliners, ink, gouache and acrylic in thin layers, as well as light washes. The paper is not designed for very wet techniques with a lot of water: it may cockle, and colour may bleed through to the back. Test this first at the edge of a page.

Practical for everyday use

The elastic closure keeps the book shut even when you slip in notes or loose sketches. The landscape format is particularly suitable for landscapes, cityscapes and panoramas. With pastel and charcoal, it is best to place a sheet of paper between the finished pages or spray on fixative so that nothing smudges.
