Caran d'Ache 849 COLORMAT-X Mechanical Pencil, Yellow, 0.7 mm HB

Caran d'Ache 849 COLORMAT-X in Yellow – Mechanical Pencil with Eraser and Aluminium Barrel

The Caran d'Ache 849 COLORMAT-X mechanical pencil in yellow is refillable and takes a 0.7 mm HB graphite lead, for notes, writing and sketches. The barrel is hexagonal and made of aluminium. It is light, and the edges give a non-slip grip in the hand. The surface is satin-finished and micro-blasted. The pencil is designed and made in Switzerland.

Under the push button there is an eraser, and beneath it a compartment for spare 0.7 mm leads. That way you have corrections and refills in a single pencil. The metal clip holds the pencil to a notebook, shirt pocket or document folder.

What does the 0.7 mm lead offer?

A 0.7 mm lead is thicker than the usual 0.5 mm and is less likely to snap when writing with normal pressure. The HB grade gives a medium darkness that stays easy to read for notes and writing. Advance the lead only a little: the shorter it protrudes, the more stable it is. For refills you need leads of Ø 0.7 mm.

Which colour?

The 849 COLORMAT-X mechanical pencil comes in seven colours: turquoise, blue, yellow, green, pink, violet and orange. According to Caran d'Ache, the features and lead are the same in every colour; only the colour of the barrel differs. Here you are choosing the yellow version.
