LYKKE Umber wooden crochet hook set – 10 sizes in a case

The LYKKE Umber crochet hook set contains 10 birch wood crochet hooks in sizes from 3.5 to 9 mm. From finer yarn to chunky yarn, one set covers a wide range of crochet projects. Each hook is 6 inches (approx. 15 cm) long, smooth and light. The wood has an earthy umber tone.

Size and material are stamped on the shaft, with both the metric and the US size. You can therefore identify each hook at a glance, even if a pattern gives only one of the two. The hooks are stored in a denim-look case with a Velcro stand.

Which hook size for which yarn?

The hook you choose depends on the recommendation on the ball band of your yarn or on your pattern. The fine sizes from 3.5 to 4 mm suit thinner yarns, while the mid sizes from 4.5 to 6 mm suit the most common yarn weights. With 6.5, 8 and 9 mm you crochet thicker yarns loosely and softly. The fine gradations such as 3.75 and 5.5 mm help you match the tension exactly.

Using the set

First crochet a tension swatch with the hook size given in the pattern and measure it. If your swatch is larger than stated, use a smaller hook; if it is smaller, use a larger one. After crocheting, put the hooks back in the case so that the wooden surface stays protected and you can see all the sizes at a glance.
