The LYKKE Umber circular knitting needle set with 3.5-inch tips (approx. 8.9 cm) is an interchangeable birch wood needle system: you screw the tips onto the cables and knit socks, sleeves, hats and other projects in the round or back and forth. The set contains 9 pairs of needle tips from US 3 (3.25 mm) to US 10.5 (6.5 mm). Sizes are given in both US and metric. This covers many common yarn weights, from sock yarn to thicker yarns, without having to buy individual needles.

The set also includes 4 cables in 16" (2 pieces), 20" and 24", 2 connectors, 4 keys, 8 stoppers and a yellow case in which everything is stored together.

Using the interchangeable system

Screw the needle tip firmly onto the cable and tighten it slightly with the key so that the join does not come undone while you knit. Put the stoppers on the cable ends when you pause your work, so the stitches do not slip off. A connector joins two cables into a longer one, for example when your project needs more circumference.

Choosing cable length and needle length

Shorter cables such as 16" (40 cm) suit small circumferences such as sleeves or hat brims, while the longer 20" (50 cm) and 24" (60 cm) cables suit larger circumferences. The short 3.5-inch tips sit comfortably in the hand on small circumferences. The set goes up to 6.5 mm. If you need thicker needles, take a look at the sets in the series with 5-inch tips, which start at US 4 (3.5 mm) and go up to US 17 (12 mm).
