Prym brass safety pins, 38 mm – rust-resistant for sewing and quilting

Prym brass safety pins (art. no. 071276) hold layers of fabric together when sewing, quilting and patchworking. You can also use them for everyday jobs, such as quick fastening or sorting. The pack contains 12 pins, each 38 mm long.

Brass is very rust-resistant, so the pins can stay in the fabric for longer, for example in a pinned quilt sandwich. The slim points go in easily and are gentle on the fabric. The surface is burr-free and polished. According to the manufacturer, the pins hold firm even with frequent opening and closing, because the brass gives a balanced spring force.

Pinning fabric layers when quilting

Lay the top fabric, wadding and backing flat on top of one another. Insert the pins at even intervals through all the layers and close them so that nothing shifts. Remove the pins just before they reach the machine needle, so that you don't sew over them.

Which length to choose

Prym offers safety pins in lengths from 19 to 57 mm. At 38 mm you are in the middle of the range: they take several layers of fabric and are still easy to handle. For very thick layers, choose a longer pin; for fine fabrics, a shorter one.
