Prym Long Sewing Needles No. 5–9 – Assortment for Everyday Hand Sewing
The Prym long sewing needles No. 5–9 (art. no. 121295) are an assortment of 20 hand sewing needles for everyday jobs such as hems, buttons, repairs and tacking. The needles are made of hardened steel, are silver-coloured and have a burr-free punched eye that does not fray the thread.
The point is finely ground and slender, and the surface has a smooth, pore-free coating. This helps the needle glide through the fabric. According to Prym, the needle heads are shaped so that you can guide the needles easily even without a thimble.
Which number for which fabric?
The higher the number, the thinner and shorter the needle. Use the higher numbers in this assortment for finer fabrics; the thicker needles suit firmer weaves. Long needles are generally about 7 mm longer than the medium-length ones. This gives you a better grip and allows longer stitches, for example when tacking.
Practical tip
If the fabric snags or the needle is hard to pull through while sewing, switch to a finer number. After sewing, push the needles back into the card so that the points are stored safely.
