Prym Long Sewing Needles No. 7, 38 × 0.70 mm, Pack of 20

Prym Long Sewing Needles No. 7 – slim hand-sewing needles for all common sewing work

Prym long sewing needles No. 7 are hand-sewing needles for all common sewing work. The pack contains 20 silver-coloured steel needles, 38 mm long and 0.70 mm thick. The point is finely and slimly ground, and the surface has a smooth, pore-free coating, so the needle glides easily through the fabric. The eye is punched burr-free, so the thread does not catch on sharp edges as you sew.

According to Prym, the heads of the needles are shaped so that you can also guide them comfortably without a thimble.

Which needle number and length?

The higher the number, the thinner and shorter the needle. No. 7 sits in the middle of the long Prym needles: No. 5 measures 40 × 0.80 mm and is sturdier, No. 9 measures 34 × 0.60 mm and is finer. Long needles are generally about 7 mm longer than medium-length ones, which makes them easier to hold. If you would like to try several sizes, the range also includes an assortment of Nos. 5–9.

Tip on choosing

Choose the needle to suit the fabric and thread: for fine, tightly woven fabrics, a thinner needle is usually better, while firmer fabrics call for a slightly sturdier one. The eye must take your thread without forcing it.
