Clover Bias Tape Maker 12 mm – make your own fusible bias binding

With the Clover bias tape maker 12 mm (1/2"), you turn fabric strips cut on the bias into iron-on bias binding in the fabric of your choice. The binding then matches your project exactly in colour and pattern.

Clover lists lattice and trellis patterns in quilting, piping for quilting and sewing, and three-dimensional bias tape flower appliqués as uses. The tape maker is made of iron and polymethylpentene.

Making the bias tape

Place the fusible web in the upper groove of the tape maker and the fabric strip cut on the bias in the lower groove. Pull both materials through the tape maker at the same time and press them directly behind the opening. Then peel off the backing and apply the finished tape. Bias tape can also be made with the tape maker without fusible web. The tape maker becomes hot when pressing, so hold it only by the handle.

Which size and which web to use

Clover assigns a web width to each tape maker: 10 mm fusible web goes with the 12 mm tape maker. The range is also available in 6, 9, 18 and 25 mm; the narrow 6 and 9 mm sizes are used with 5 mm web. Narrower tape makers suit fine trellis and lattice patterns, wider sizes suit bolder bindings.
