Prym black elastic cord – round elastic, 100 m on the reel

Prym Elastic Cord is a round, highly elastic cord in black, 1.5 mm in diameter. The bulk pack holds 100 m on the reel. That is enough for larger quantities, for example for many casings, craft projects or repeat jobs. The cord is washable at 40 °C.

At 1.5 mm, it is the thinner variant in the range. The bulk pack is also available in white at 1.5 mm and in white at 2.5 mm (50 m reel). For fine fabrics and narrow casings, the thin cord is usually the better choice. For stronger gathers, you would choose the thicker one.

Using the elastic cord

Cut the length you need from the reel and thread the cord through the casing with a safety pin. If you use it in clothing, for example in cuffs or waist casings, close the ends with a firm knot or sew them down. Test on a piece first to see how far the cord should stretch, so that the casing sits well and does not gather too much. Do not stretch the cord too much while threading it, so that it does not bunch up unevenly in the casing afterwards.
