Lang Yarns Lusso – super light lace yarn made from four natural fibres

Lusso from Lang Yarns is a super light lace yarn for fine shawls, light jumpers and accessories. It is made from 36% wool (merino extrafine), 27% silk, 19% camel (baby) and 18% mohair (Superkid). The silk adds a delicate sheen, while merino and mohair provide softness and warmth.

The baby camel hair content is a special feature: according to Lang Yarns, it comes from Asia, and the fine down (undercoat) is used for hand-knitting yarns. One ball weighs 25 g and has approx. 180 m. For 100 g of yarn, you therefore need to allow for four balls with a total of approx. 720 m. Choose your colour from the options.

What to knit with Lusso

Lusso is designed as a lace yarn for fine, airy knitted pieces: shawls and stoles, light jumpers or tops and elegant accessories. With needles of 2.5–3.5 mm it produces a loose, light fabric that looks soft and fluffy thanks to the mohair content. The ball band gives 22 stitches and 36 rows over 10 × 10 cm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. Mohair clings together easily and is difficult to unpick. It is therefore best to knit a small tension swatch first and use it to check the needle size and the fabric. If possible, buy the quantity for a project in one go from the same dye lot.

Care

Lang Yarns recommends washing Lusso with wool detergent, without fabric softener. Fabric softener would be unnecessary with this yarn, which has a high silk and mohair content, because the fibres are naturally soft.
