Flat-oval centre cane 5.0 mm for basket weaving

The flat-oval centre cane, 5.0 mm wide, is a weaving material for baskets and other basketry. The underside of the cane is flat and the top is oval. You get 500 g of natural product, which you can use for baskets, coasters or small woven projects, depending on your project.

At 5.0 mm wide, the cane is narrow and suits finer weaving. For larger baskets or a chunkier look, choose a wider cane.

Working with centre cane

Place the cane in warm water before weaving. This makes it more flexible and easier to bend, so you can guide it round stakes or bases more easily. Work it while it is damp and soft so that it does not split when bent.

Dyeing and limits

You can dye the cane naturally, for example by soaking it in black tea. It is not suitable for seating chairs and other seats.
