Round Basket Base Ø 160 mm – Drilled Base for Baskets and Decorations

The round basket base, Ø 160 mm, is made of laser-cut birch plywood with 25 drilled holes. You push the stakes that will later form the sides of your basket into the holes. The wood is 3 mm thick, so it holds the stakes firmly in place.

As the holes are already drilled, you save yourself the marking and drilling and can start weaving straight away. The base suits small baskets, desk tidies and decorative pieces. If you need something smaller, the same basket base is also available in Ø 90 mm.

Weaving a basket on the base

Choose stakes whose diameter fits securely into the holes of approx. 3.3 mm. Push one stake into each hole and bend the stakes upwards or stand them upright. Using weaving material, you then weave alternately in front of and behind the stakes around the base. Because the base has 25 holes, giving an odd number of stakes, the weaving material shifts by itself from round to round, and you do not need any adjustment to keep the pattern. The most common mistake is a start that is too loose: pull the first rounds tight so that the stakes stand evenly and the basket does not end up crooked.
